Add Watermark to Image places your own text on photos to protect your work or add credit. Choose the position, size, colour and opacity.

Add a text watermark to your photos

If you publish photos online, a watermark with your name or website helps people credit you and discourages casual copying. This tool writes text on one or many pictures at once. You decide the text, size, colour, transparency and position, and everything is processed privately in your browser.

Who uses image watermarks?

Your options

Text. Use your name, brand or website address. A copyright symbol can be pasted into the box. Any language that your device can display will work.

Size. The size is a percentage of the picture width, so the watermark looks proportionate on both small and large images.

Opacity. At 1 the text is fully solid. Around 0.5 to 0.7 is clear but not distracting. Lower values create a subtle mark.

Position. Place it in a corner, at the top or in the centre. Corners are less intrusive. A centre watermark is harder to crop out.

Colour. White works on dark or mid-tone pictures, and dark colours work on bright backgrounds. A soft shadow behind the text improves readability on busy backgrounds.

How it works

Each picture is drawn on a canvas, your text is written on top with the chosen settings and the result is saved in the same format as the original. The original photo is not altered, and a new file with a watermarked suffix is created.

What a watermark can and cannot do

A watermark is a deterrent and a credit line. It is not a complete protection: someone with editing skills could crop or retouch it. Place the text where removing it would damage the picture, keep the original files private and publish reduced-size versions online.

Privacy

Pictures never leave your device. Nothing is uploaded or stored by this site.

Tips

Troubleshooting

The text is hard to read. Change the colour or increase the opacity.

It is too large on small images. Lower the size percentage.

It disappeared against a white background. Switch to a dark colour.

Free and unlimited

Select your photos, type your watermark and download the results. No sign-up and no limits.

A real-world example

Danish is a wedding photographer who shares a preview gallery with a couple. He selects 40 preview photos, types his studio name, sets the size to 5 percent, opacity to 0.6 and the position to bottom right. The couple can enjoy the previews, and anyone who sees the pictures online knows who took them.

More questions about this tool

Can I use my logo instead of text?

This tool uses text only. For a logo, a graphics editor is the better choice, but text watermarks work well for names and website addresses.

Where should the watermark go?

Bottom corners are the least intrusive. If you want stronger protection, place it near the centre where cropping it out would spoil the picture.

Does the watermark reduce image quality?

The text is drawn on top of the picture and the file is saved again at high quality. For JPG and WebP a small amount of compression is applied, so keep your originals.

How to use Add Watermark to Image

  1. Select one or more images (JPG, PNG or WebP).
