An age calculator tells you how old you are in years, months and days, and gives extra facts such as the total number of days you have lived and how many days are left until your next birthday. Select your date of birth and press the button. You can also pick another date, for example to find your age on a future deadline or on a date in the past.
Why people need an exact age
- Forms and applications. Many applications ask for your age on a specific date, such as the closing date of a job or exam.
- Eligibility. Schools, sports and government schemes often have minimum or maximum age limits.
- Planning. Retirement, insurance and savings plans depend on how old you will be at certain points.
- Curiosity and celebrations. It is fun to see the number of days or weeks you have lived, or to count down to a birthday.
- Family and records. Check the age of a child, a pet or a historical person at a particular moment.
What the results show
Age in years, months and days. The calculator subtracts your birth date from the chosen date, adjusting months and days properly so that, for example, a person born on 31 January is handled correctly in shorter months.
Total days and weeks. The exact number of days between the two dates, and the number of full weeks.
Next birthday. The number of days until your birthday occurs again after the chosen date.
Age on a different date
By default the tool uses today’s date. Change the second date field to see your age at any other time. This is helpful when an application says that you must be at least 18 on 1 January next year, or when you want to know how old someone was at a past event.
How it works
The tool compares the year, month and day of the two dates. If the day of the month on the second date is earlier than the birth day, it borrows days from the previous month. If the month is earlier, it borrows a year. It then converts the difference in time to days by dividing the number of milliseconds between the two dates by the length of a day. The calculation is done in your browser and uses your local calendar.
Leap years and special cases
Leap years are handled automatically because the calculation uses real calendar dates. People born on 29 February have a birthday only every four years; for the countdown the tool uses the next occurrence in the calendar. If your date of birth is later than the selected date, the tool shows a message because the age cannot be negative.
Privacy
Your date of birth is used only to calculate the result in your browser. It is not stored, transmitted or shared.
Tips
- Enter the date using the date picker to avoid format mistakes between day-first and month-first styles.
- For official documents, always follow the age calculation rules of the organisation concerned, because some count age differently.
- To compare two people, run the calculator twice with different birth dates.
Troubleshooting
It asks me to select a date. Fill in your date of birth before pressing the button.
The result seems one day off. Check the two dates, including the year, and remember that the end date itself is not counted as an extra day.
The date field looks different on my phone. Phones show their own date picker. The result is the same.

Another example: checking an age limit
A job advertisement says that candidates must be under 30 years old on 1 March 2027. Adnan was born on 14 August 1997. He selects his date of birth and sets the second date to 1 March 2027. The result is 29 years, 6 months and 15 days, so he meets the condition. Without a calculator, it is easy to make a mistake with months and leap years.
